Campaign Manager

Description

The Campaign Manager will serve as the operational and strategic leader of the campaign, overseeing all aspects of planning, execution, and evaluation to ensure the successful qualification and passage of the Medicaid expansion initiative. This role demands exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a proven track record in managing large-scale advocacy and/or electoral campaigns. The Campaign Manager will report directly to Florida Decides Healthcare’s Executive Committee and provide regular updates to key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive campaign plan, including timelines, benchmarks, and budgets.
  • Lead strategic decision-making to adapt to evolving challenges and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including coalition partners, donors, media, and policymakers.
Team Management
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise campaign staff and consultants, fostering a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
  • Provide clear direction and accountability to field, communications, and operations teams.
Ballot Placement Oversight
  • Manage the petition circulation program to ensure the campaign collects more than 840,000 valid petition signatures from registered voters in Florida.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing citizen initiatives and campaign activities in Florida.
  • Ensure the initiative successfully clears the Florida Supreme Court review process for citizen initiatives.
Fundraising & Budgeting
  • Supervise and collaborate with finance staff and consultants to meet fundraising targets, ensuring these efforts provide the critical resources needed to achieve petition and voter outreach goals, ultimately securing a successful ballot initiative.
  • Oversee campaign finances, ensuring transparency and adherence to budget constraints.
Communications & Public Engagement
  • Act as a spokesperson for the campaign when necessary, delivering a compelling message to diverse audiences.
  • Guide the development and implementation of media and digital strategies to increase visibility and support for the initiative.
Travel
  • Frequent in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel for campaign fundraisers, events, and other functions.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in political or advocacy campaign management, with a preference for ballot initiative campaigns.
  • Strong leadership skills with a history of managing diverse teams and large budgets.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Florida’s political landscape and experience navigating its unique challenges.
  • Familiarity with the rules and regulations governing citizen initiatives in Florida, including petition circulation.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Medicaid expansion or healthcare-related advocacy.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with coalition partners and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.
